TITLE: BEFORE/AFTER-SCHOOL EL MATH SKILLS ACCELERATION TEACHER - GR 8-12
POSITION SUMMARY:
This program is designed to help accelerate content and language acquisition for English learner students grades 8-12 by offering an extended day program that connects to core curriculum and prerequisite math skills and the language of math needed to access grade level standards and beyond.
Snacks are provided for student participants.
DATES OF PROGRAM: Winter Session - January 6 - March 7 (8 weeks)
2 days per week, choice of flexible days of the week - 1 hour of prep is
provided for every 2 hours of instruction
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design fun and engaging lessons that are culturally and linguistically sustaining, honoring students assets, prior knowledge, and full linguistic repertoire
- Select appropriate math lessons, identified from student math screener data (already administered in October) that reteach prerequisite skills and background knowledge for grades 8+ math standards
- Select appropriate hands on activities and/or projects and games to engage students in skill practice and demonstration of learning and use of target language
- Differentiate instruction for EL students of various proficiency levels
- Supervise students at arrival and dismissal
- Document learning experiences on template within google folder of math reteach resources provided by EL Director
- Share student experience summary/photos with families
- Follow all applicable school rules
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA Educator Licensure and SEI Endorsement and/or ESL Licensure
- Current Member of Bellingham Public Schools faculty preferred
SALARY: $33 oer hour
