TITLE: English Teacher
Location: Bellingham High School
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' skills and competence in English and the ability to problem solve in a wide variety of settings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and administers English curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of established district curriculum goals, establishes and communicates clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units, and projects.
- Maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and attendance as required.
- Maintains an ongoing program of professional growth that satisfies district requirements but also satisfies personal expectations as a professional.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and administers standardized tests in accordance with district and state testing requirements.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Assume responsibility for related duties that may be assigned by the building principal.
- Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.
SKILLS/ABILITY:
- Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level or discipline preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and/or DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:
- MA DESE English Licensure 5-12 Required.
- Bachelor’s from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Master’s degree preferred.
SALARY: Per BTA Contract
CLASSIFICATION: BTA
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
You are required to be physically capable of escorting students from the building in case of a practice drill or emergency situation in a safe and timely fashion.
Must be able to move about the classroom and have the ability to bend, sit or stand frequently.

DiPietro Elementary (Preschool – Grade 3), Stall Brook Elementary (Preschool – Grade 3) Bellingham Memorial School (grades 4-7) and Bellingham High School (grades 8-12), and Keough Memorial Academy (grades 7-12) is our therapeutic day school for students with special needs.
