TITLE: English Language Education (ELE) Program English Language Education (ELE) Program

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of English Language Education plans, develops, implements, and evaluates English learners’ programs (ELs) across our Bellingham schools. The Director provides training to ESL staff, general education staff, and administrators; monitors program compliance; provides curricular resources to teachers and staff; provides consultation and support to administrators and staff in the area for English Learners and related supports; other related functions as directed.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

SKILLS/ABILITY:

  1. Bilingual in Portuguese or Spanish preferred.
  2. Strong district lens regarding ELE and curriculum.
  3. Working knowledge of the MA State Standards, WIDA, and RETELL.
  4. Strong knowledge of the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) and ACCESS.
  5. Strong organizational and communication skills.
  6. Exceptional interpersonal skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
  7. Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and/or DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must hold DESE Licensure in ESL and SEI Endorsement
  2. Must hold DESE Licensure as Supervisor/Director and/or SEI Administrator Endorsement
  3. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  4. At least five years of successful classroom teaching experience.

  

CLASSIFICATION: Singleton

 

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  2. This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
  3. This job required travel to/from all school buildings on an as needed basis.

 

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 

 

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: ESL Teachers

DiPietro Elementary (Preschool – Grade 3), Stall Brook Elementary (Preschool – Grade 3) Bellingham Memorial School (grades 4-7) and Bellingham High School (grades 8-12), and Keough Memorial Academy (grades 7-12) is our therapeutic day school for students with special needs.
