Title: Grade 7 Science Teacher (LTS)
*Schedule: January 27, 2025 - EOY
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Establish clear objectives for all units, daily lessons, and projects and effectively communicate these objectives to students both verbally and virtually on google classroom.
- Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of all learners.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Hold office hours for students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested.
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Successful experience teaching Science to middle school students, with a minimum of three years in a public middle school preferred.
- Strong background in Science, as demonstrated through academic preparation, professional experience, and personal interests; strong skills with computer technology.
- Personal qualities that exemplify the school’s emphasis on character and community, including genuine interest in and connection with adolescents, eagerness to serve as an advisor, strong interpersonal skills, commitment to teamwork, and readiness to reflect and grow.
- Appreciation for the Expeditionary Learning (EL) design model, and commitment to work with colleagues and EL consultants to develop curriculum and implement EL core practices, including in-depth learning expeditions.
- Experience, training and interest in teaching a range of abilities within heterogeneously grouped classes, including students who are advanced and those with learning differences and special needs.
- Experience implementing culturally sustaining teaching practices.
- Enthusiasm for the school’s mission and its themes of nature, technology and community; understanding of the school’s responsibilities as a charter public school; and the energy, flexibility, and sense of adventure required to work hard as a member of the core faculty in a young school.
- Genuine interest in and connection with adolescents.
- Personal qualities that exemplify an emphasis on character development and community
- Appreciation for the expeditionary learning (EL) design model commitment to develop curriculum and implement EL core practices, including in-depth learning expeditions.
- Experience, training and interest in teaching a range of abilities in heterogeneously classes – background in differentiated instruction would be a significant asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills, commitment to teamwork, and readiness to reflect and grow.
- Energy, flexibility, and sense of adventure required to work hard in an evolving school.
- Experience working with students in a small group/SEL format such as advisory or crew.

- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Appropriate MA DESE Certification Required (Middle School: Science 1-6 or 5-12 or Elementary 1–6)
- At least one year of full-time teaching experience or completion of a student teaching program
- Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students
- Patience, resilience, and cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply student performance data to instructional planning and execution
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent communication and collaboration skills
