TITLE: DISTRICT EQUITY TEAM
POSITION SUMMARY:
The function of the District Equity Committee is to ensure that the district has a clearly articulated plan for building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working and learning environment for all students, staff and faculty. The District Equity Team shall include:
- Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent and/or Central Office Staff
- Building Principals/Assistant Principals
- School-based Staff - Five representatives (one from each building)
The committee will meet at most 10 (ten) times yearly. Meetings will be at least 2 (two) hours per meeting. Meetings may be held during PD Days, during school days, or during after-school hours.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To advise, provide input, and help prioritize the district-wide equity efforts
- Become familiar with tools for evaluating curricular materials for stereotypes and bias, and be willing to support colleagues in the process as well
- Represents the Bellingham School Community's interests throughout the process
- Attend meetings as described above
- Willingness to complete work in between meeting dates as described above
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be a current member of the Bellingham Public Schools staff
2. Must have attended a workshop/course with ADL, Gender Spectrum, Kate Kelly, or Kalise Wornum
SALARY: $33 per hour for meetings outside of contracted hours, subject to grant funding

The Bellingham Public School District’s enrollment is approximately 1,930 students and an organizational staff of 400 employees. The district is split into the following building grade levels: DiPietro Elementary (Preschool – Grade 3), Stall Brook Elementary (Preschool – Grade 3) Bellingham Memorial School (grades 4-7) and Bellingham High School (grades 8-12), and Keough Memorial Academy (grades 7-12) is our therapeutic day school for students with special needs.
