Title: ELA Tutor (19.5 hours) – 1 year only

 

FUNCTION: To provide small group, in-class and out-of-class instruction in English Language Arts.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  1. Working with the Literacy specialist and classroom teacher to provide rigorous, small group.
  2. ELA content, strategies, and skills instruction in-class and out-of-class including in-person, virtual and remote learning models.
  3. Administer and document formal, informal and progress monitoring assessments.
  4. Meet routinely with the Intervention team using data to discuss students’ progress and needs.
  5. Responsible for creating and updating RTI plans and reports.
  6. Attend and actively engage in all professional development, data analysis, planning, and parent meetings.
  7. Willingness to become involved in the academic and social aspects of school life to support student success, school spirit, and school climate and culture.
  8. Engage in a continuous cycle of feedback and improvement regarding instruction, planning, and classroom culture.
  9. Evaluate and recommend materials and programs beneficial for the intervention program.
  10. Incorporates technology when appropriate in tutoring sessions.
  11. Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.
  12. Foster a positive relationship with students, staff, and family.
  13. Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience teaching ELA at 4-7 levels per the Massachusetts Frameworks preferred.
  2. Knowledge of Google classroom, Google meet, and iReady helpful.
  3. Understanding of or experience using standardized reading programs including LLI, Sore to Success, Just Words/Wilson preferred.
  4. Experience with BAS, Cloze, TOSWRF, and Running Records helpful.
  5. Completed at least two years of study at an institute of higher education, obtained at least an associate degree or meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate knowledge of, and ability to assist in instruction ELA.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
