Title: Cafeteria (Non-Union)

FUNCTION: Under the supervision of School Nutrition Director bakes, cooks and prepares a variety of food in quantity for both breakfast and lunch; exercises supervision over all employees working in the cafeteria.

 

SALARY:    $18.70/hour

SCHEDULE: 3 hours/day

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Kitchen duties for the typical cafeteria worker include prep and assembly of various hot and cold entrees (including pizza, burgers, hot & cold sandwiches, salads, fruits & vegetables) and other items as assigned by the Lead Cook. Alternative food items being prepared for sale to students must be prepared according to exact specifications, recipes or other directives from Lead Cook or School Nutrition Director (SND).
  2. Prep and cooking includes use of the following equipment: buffalo chopper, shredder, deli slicer and knives, convection and conventional ovens, steamers and kettles.
  3. Cleaning duties include hand washing of pots, pans, utensils and other cooking equipment. Each work station and all equipment must be kept clean and sanitary per HACCP standards.  Assist in wiping down all cafeteria tables in dining area.
  4. Cashiering responsibilities include verifying and balancing cash drawer, keeping records as directed, and adhering to all rules regarding the use of the POS system, including verifying that computer photo is that of each purchasing customer.
  5. Other duties include stocking food, beverage & paper items, serving lunches in the proper portion as instructed by Lead Cook or SND. All food handlers must adhere to proper food safety guidelines.
  6. Required to lift up to 50 pounds
  7. At least 4 hours of annual/continuing education/training is required
  8. Perform all other duties as may be assigned by the Lead Cook or SND.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Ability to manage periods of sustained physical activity and concentration.
  2. Able to perform simple math functions.
  3. Good organizational skills.
  4. Willingness to learn and demonstrate initiative.
  5. Possesses good judgement and can maintain confidentiality.
  6. Work in a clean and sanitary manner.
  7. Have fun and display a positive attitude at work with students and staff.
  8. Food service experience preferred.
