Title:  ESY Grades 4-12 Classroom Teachers (3 day)

Department:  Special Education Extended School Year (ESY)

Positions:  Total number of positions to be determined by student enrollment

Salary: $45/Hour

            * FUNDING CONTINGENT ON TOWN MEETING APPROVAL, MAY 22, 2024.

               Appointment may be made prior to salary determination.

               Timesheets will be sent prior to the program start date, via school email.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

To teach children with various disabilities to ensure that students gain skills in academics, socialization, and communication with the goal of building independence in all areas of their lives.  All recommended therapies will be provided during this time. 

 

PROGRAM DATES:

07/08/2024 through 08/07/2024 (5 weeks)

 

Days and Times:

Monday through Wednesday (3 days)

 

Grades 4-7 Schedule:

9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. In addition to the program hours, a teacher’s schedule will include 1 hour of prep per day to be scheduled before or after class hours, or in two thirty-minute periods – one before, and one after class hours.
  2.  Prior to the start of the program, all appointed teachers will be required to attend a mandatory orientation meeting, via zoom, and will be given prep time to plan individual instruction. The total time is not to exceed 4 hours.
  3. Adheres to the adopted policies and procedures of the Bellingham School Committee.

 

 

Grades 4-7 Program:

Location:         Bellingham Memorial School

Description:    Grades 4 through 7.   To teach children with various disabilities, to ensure that students gain skills in academics, socialization, and communication with the goal of building independence in all areas of their lives.

 

 

SKILLS/ABILITY:

  1. Experience teaching or assistant with students in requested grade level.

 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES and/or DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Certification is required.
  2. Preference will be given to applicants teaching students with mild to moderate special needs or severe disabilities.
